join a playgroup!

Join a playgroup or start one yourself. My daughter and I joined a playgroup before she was two. We met weekly (summers too!) at each other's houses. Once the kids got into first grade, we started meeting once a month when the school scheduled half days. We sometimes met at night for ice cream socials too.

Not only do the children learn to socialize, but parents find support and friendship within the group. If you have a local parenting group, such as my town's Bedford Family Connections, it's smart to join and reap the benefits, including help with forming playgroups. If there's no parenting group near you, contact one of these networks below. Do you find this valuable?
